Overview

Weather touches every decision we make, from what to wear to how we travel. Our client was tired of conventional weather apps and wanted precise forecasts people could actually act on: hourly updates and location-specific trends, presented clearly. We built Atmosphere Weather natively for both Android and iOS, using Swift and Kotlin, pairing an animated radar with rich customisation to make forecasting clear, useful and genuinely pleasant to use.

The challenge

Making forecasts feel intuitive

Conventional weather apps lean on the same tired icons and dense panels. The brief was to present rich, accurate weather detail in a way that felt aesthetic and immediate, without burying users in options or sacrificing the depth that makes a forecast trustworthy.

Our approach

Research first, then build

We started with how people actually read weather: at a glance, in context and on the move. From there we designed an animated radar that uses distinct colouration to map sky conditions rather than generic icons, a geographic map view for route planning, and a floating quick-settings layer so users can personalise colours, radar range and temperature readings on demand. Everything was built natively for Android and iOS to keep performance crisp.

Inside the product

What we shipped

A complete native weather experience for Android and iOS, from a considered splash screen through to a real-time weather map and granular quick settings.

01

Animated radar forecast

A 24-hour forecast on an animated radar that uses distinct colouration rather than generic icons, so sky conditions can be read at a glance.

02

Real-time map view

A geographic weather map that places conditions in context and supports route planning by surfacing changing patterns in real time.

03

On-demand customisation

A floating quick-settings layer that lets users set custom colours per event, adjust radar range with a slider and switch temperature readings on the fly.

04

Cross-platform native build

Built natively for both Android and iOS so performance stays crisp and the experience feels at home on every device.

05

Self-serve support layer

A well-organised settings panel with tutorials and extras that helps users help themselves and keeps the experience clear rather than cluttered.

Results

A weather app worth opening

Atmosphere Weather shipped natively on Android and iOS as a clear, customisable alternative to the conventional weather app. The animated radar, real-time map view and on-demand settings give users weather detail they can act on, presented in a way that feels considered rather than cluttered.
