The Industry Plug is a marketplace for hiring creative service providers, bringing models, directors, photographers, videographers and others together in one platform. We built the mobile app on React Native with a MERN backend, handling everything from discovery and booking to secure payments and escrow. The result is a trusted place where clients can find the right creative talent and providers can win work, with the money side handled safely throughout.
A two-sided creative marketplace only works if both sides trust it. Clients need to discover and book the right talent with confidence, and providers need to know they will be paid fairly and on time. That meant building reliable booking flows, secure handling of payments and escrow, and a robust, well-protected backend, all wrapped in a mobile experience that feels modern and effortless on both iOS and Android.
We built the app in React Native for a single, consistent cross-platform experience, backed by a MERN stack and cloud infrastructure on AWS for resources like S3 and SES. We integrated Stripe to handle payments and escrow securely, added custom middleware to sanitise requests, and stood up Firebase for the real-time pieces. The whole programme ran on agile scrum with daily stand-ups and continuous integration and deployment, keeping the team focused and the build moving steadily towards the business goal.
